Terms of service
Last updated 29 July 2026
The rules for using 0th Layer. Short, because the service is simple: we run a job board where a person reads your application.
This has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet.
It is an accurate description of how the system actually works, written to be checked rather than to be relied on. Have it reviewed before treating it as a legal commitment.
The agreement
Using 0thlayer.com means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not use the service. Creating an account or submitting an application confirms you accept them.
To be completed before launch: the legal entity these terms are with, and the governing law and jurisdiction. Left blank rather than assumed — see the same note in the privacy policy.
Accounts
You need an account to apply. You must give an email address you control, keep your sign-in details to yourself, and be at least 16. Everything done through your account is your responsibility.
You can delete your account at any time at account deletion.
Applying
By submitting an application you confirm that:
- what you have written is true, and the work you link to is yours or you have the right to share it;
- you are not under an obligation to someone else that stops you applying;
- you understand the reviewer for the role reads your application, and that we pass it to the hiring company only if they shortlist you.
One application per role. The reviewer reads it properly, so sending several gains you nothing and costs everyone time.
What we promise, and what we do not
We promise a human reads your application in full and answers you within 10 days, either way, with a reason. That commitment is the product.
We do not promise:
- that you will be shortlisted, interviewed or hired;
- that any company will respond to you, or respond in any particular way, once they have your shortlisted application;
- that a listing is accurate — companies write their own roles, and we check what we reasonably can, but we do not verify every claim in them.
A reviewer’s assessment is their professional judgement, not a statement of fact about your ability.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- submit applications on someone else’s behalf without their knowledge, or impersonate anyone;
- scrape, bulk-download or republish listings, or use automated tools to submit applications;
- upload anything harmful, or anything you do not have the right to share;
- attempt to break, overload or work around the service.
We can suspend or remove an account that does any of this. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.
Your content
What you write stays yours. You give us permission to store it and to show it to the reviewer for the role, and to the hiring company if you are shortlisted — and to nobody else. That permission ends when you delete your account, except where a company already holds a shortlisted application, which we cannot retrieve.
Availability
We aim to keep the service running and will not always succeed. It may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control, and we may change or discontinue parts of it. If we are shutting down something you depend on, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to get your data out.
Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for lost opportunities, lost earnings, or indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service — including a company not responding, a role being withdrawn, or an application not resulting in an offer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and for material changes we will email account holders. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.
